Independent structural field notes

Our Structural Curiosity

We want the view from a riverbank to become more interesting once you understand what holds the deck up.

A guide, not a leaderboard

Zandumitrovs is an independent informational website about unusual bridges and engineering marvels. It is written for curious travellers, students and readers who want an accessible explanation without a specialist vocabulary being assumed.

Our starting point is the engineering problem: the gap, the ground, the waterway and the forces. From there we explain why a particular form might work. A spectacular shape deserves more than an adjective and a record claim.

How we handle sources

We prefer bridge operators, project authorities, heritage organisations and established engineering resources for factual context. Topic pages provide source links so readers can investigate further. Simplified diagrams explain a principle; they are not construction drawings or numerical analyses.

Dimensions need definitions. Opening dates refer to historical events, not a guarantee of present access. A record needs a category and a date, and a project description should distinguish the finished structure from its temporary construction arrangements.

What this site does not do

We do not provide structural design, inspection, certification or site-specific safety assessments. We do not operate the bridges featured here, sell access or provide live closure information. We are not affiliated with bridge owners, operators or tourism authorities.

A photograph cannot establish a bridge’s present condition. For travel decisions, use the operator’s current notices and local requirements. For engineering decisions, consult appropriately qualified professionals with access to the actual project information.

Corrections are welcome

If a name, measurement or explanation needs attention, tell us which page you mean and include a useful source. A precise correction is more valuable than a dramatic replacement claim. We also welcome crossings that reveal an overlooked structural idea.
